How to make a matcha latte with a steam wand

Step 1: Preparation

  • Somage Matcha Latte powder

    Milk jug

    Scales

    Steam wand

    Spoon

    Whisk

    Cup or Glass

Step 2: Weigh

  • Pre-weigh Matcha latte powder and your chosen milk. The ratio is 3.5 g of powder for every 100 mL of milk. A standard cup equates to 7 g matcha latte powder (1 tablespoon) and 200 mL milk.

    Note: Pour milk into the steam jug before adding the Matcha latte powder.

Step 3: Whisk

  • Whisk the matcha powder into the cold milk vigorously until the ingredients are dispersed and the colour has transformed.

    Note: Please do not add hot water at this stage.

Step 4: Steam & Texture

  • Steam until your Matcha Latte reaches 65°C. To create a silky texture place tip of steam wand just left of centre so milk spins in a circular motion - this will ensure a creamy mouthfeel is achieved.

Serve

  • Pour into glass or cup. Optionally, garnish with additonal Matcha Latte powder and serve
